A very successful, well established IFA practice is seeking a Technical Paraplanner. You would be a member of a team of paraplanners, supporting a number of Advisers, working within a very friendly, supportive working environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Product research                                                                                                                                                                                                        

The technical and practical evaluation of financial planning products & sharing product information with advisers and other paraplanners

  • Financial Planning                                                                                                                                                                                          

Assisting with the development and implementation of a strategy that will enable a client to meet financial objectives

  • Presentation of advice                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

Preparation of letters, suitability reports and other documents as part of the advice process, including reviews

  • Meeting preparation                                                                                                                                                                                                      

Helping advisers prepare for client meetings, including the preparation of all relevant paperwork

  • Client reviews                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Updating client records, analysing progress and presenting information in accordance with annual review procedures

  • Compliance                                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Ensuring that all dealings with clients are in accordance with internal and regulatory guidelines

  • Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)                                                                                                                                                                                   

Ensuring that clients are always dealt with fairly

  • System development                                                                                                                                                                                             

Assisting in the development of systems and procedures in respect of all points above

  • Special projects                                                                                                                                                                                                        

Assisting with special projects at the request of the Partners

Candidate profile:

  • Level 4 DipPFS preferable, or working towards. Advanced qualifications could influence salary
  • minimum of 3 years’ experience as a technical paraplanner 
  • knowledge of investment funds and asset allocation
  • knowledge of & experience in pre & post retirement planning
  • knowledge of & experience in cashflow planning
  • knowledge of tax treatment of different fund types and product wrappers
  • knowledge of investment, pension and annuity products
  • knowledge of financial planning legislation
  • knowledge of income Tax & CGT rules
  • awareness of FCA compliance requirements
  • a good standard of English and Mathematics
  • good communication skills – both verbal and written
  • experience of both bespoke and templated report writing
  • ability to obtain, assess and act on information
  • highly organised
  • excellent attention to detail
  • good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word & Excel
  • previous experience of Defaqto, Selectapension, FE Analytics and CashCalc an advantage
  • common sense approach to work, able to work unsupervised & take responsibility for own caseload

In return, the Technical Paraplanner can expect a basic salary up to £45K, depending on experience & qualifications. Offering a flexible working arrangement, you would be able to work from home 2 days per week once established.
