At SFR, we’re incredibly proud of the lasting relationships we have built with our clients and also the candidates that we have helped over the years in seeking new career opportunities – It’s something we treasure.
With that in mind, we thought we’d dedicate a post to let those less familiar with the SFR team get to know us a little bit better. We’re a very dedicated team with a mixture of skills and experiences behind us but what’s more, we all love what we do which is why we have built so many great relationships along the way.
So, if you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting all of the members of the SFR team to date, here’s a little bit about each of us as individuals and what we bring to the team!
Dan Thompson, Founding Director
Dan Thompson, who is the Founding Director here at SFR is well known and respected within the industry having previously played an instrumental role in developing a leading UK financial services recruitment consultancy which was launched in 2000.
In 2009, he helped establish a freelance fund promoter and distributor, operating at the High & Ultra High Net Worth end of the regulated intermediary market. As Recruitment Director he built a distribution team, capable of delivering a range of quality, alternative investment funds and specialist services to investment advisers.
In 2014, Dan launched Specialist Financial Recruitment. As an owner managed business, he takes great pride in building the reputation and brand of SFR. His passion, drive and enthusiasm, combined with in-depth market knowledge and a strong understanding of client and candidate needs, translates into a flexible and innovative financial services recruitment agency.
Josie Thompson, Director
After graduating from University with a BA (Hons) Business and Finance and an MA Human Resource Management, Josie worked within HR for an IT Consultancy operating in the infrastructure and energy industries. For the past 10 years she has worked within the Care Sector, fulfilling the role of Company Secretary and overseeing the HR and Finance functions of specialist Children’s Care Homes.
Having initially joined SFR in 2015 on a part time basis, Josie took on a permanent role with effect from 2019 to support the continued growth of the company. Covering a wide range of responsibilities, Josie oversees the on-boarding of all SFR's candidates from a GDPR perspective along with overseeing the finance side of the business.
Joe Lawless, Non-Executive Director
Joe is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He is a commercially minded, highly experienced professional with 30 years’ experience encompassing individual, team and business development with blue chip companies and small & medium sized enterprises primarily focused within the Financial Services Industry.
Joe’s highly regarded reputation throughout his career has been built on many trusted business relationships with a wide range of CEO’s, MD’s, Directors and Business owners based on respect and results. He shares this extensive experience with his clients in an enthusiastic and highly effective style to ensure the desired results.
With his lifelong passion for many sports and innovative thinking on development, Joe enjoys combining the two areas. He has worked closely with leading sporting personalities including Sir Clive Woodward, Shane Warne, Sir Ben Ainsley and Ben Hunt-Davis, providing unique insight into the winning mentality of elite sporting stars.
Joe shares this understanding, alongside practical ideas and tactics to support the development of his clients. He quickly builds enduring relationships at all levels based on mutual trust, personal credibility and a passion for achieving agreed results.
Louise Shapland, Resourcing Executive
A graduate from Coventry University, Louise (Lou) has helped train and support a range of companies transfer and build their database structures. A Microsoft Office Trainer for Pitman Training Centre she progressed to the Charity Sector becoming an expert user and trainer of databases that supported the fundraising sector. Having joined SFR at the time of our launch, Lou's involvement has naturally evolved from setting up our candidate on-boarding process, to implementing and maintaining our contact strategy and helping shape our GDPR systems and procedures.
Throughout her time with SFR, Lou has continually developed her knowledge of the financial services industry. Having on-boarded 100's of candidates and viewed 1000's of CV's she has become accustomed to the professional qualifications, skills and experience that our candidates offer and how their profiles align to our clients requirements. When the need arose to have a dedicated 'resourcing' function to support and strengthen our talent acquisition capabilities, Lou was perfectly placed to step up into this role which is where she now focuses her time.
Iveta Scott, Office Administrator
Having studied Economics, Accountancy, Administration and International Business in the Czech Republic, Iveta relocated to London and began working in Operational management in the Serviced Office Sector. Starting as a Service Coordinator over the years she worked her way up to the position of Centre Manager managing a large landmark office building in West London.
Iveta joined SFR in 2018, supporting the business in an administration role. Her main duties include day to day administration, database management, data analytics, the coordination of our video pre-screening capability and being on hand to assist our clients and candidates with any general queries they may have.
